1、句中含有that時，看that是否能省略。定語從句中的that不僅起到連接詞的作用，而且還充當句子的成分（主語、賓語等），往往可以省略。例如：The apples that your mom bought yesterday were delicious.（其中，that可以省略。）

在同位語從句中，that只起到連接詞的作用，不充當句子成分，一般不能省略。例如：It is a fact that he has done his best.

2、that與先行詞的關係。定語從句中，that對先行詞起到修飾、限定作用。例如：This is the dog that I'm looking for.同位語從句中，that對先行詞起到解釋、補充説明的作用。例如：The news that he has died was true.
