1、rather than 除了上面的用法，我們還可以“是......而不是......”，比如：He is a teacher of anatomy rather than a doctor.他是個解剖學老師，而不是個醫生。或者譯為：與其說他是個醫生，不如說他是個解剖學老師。

2、(常與would或had連用)寧可，寧願；(與其...)倒不如；而不是。
